Redbacks are the ones worth taking seriously on the coast: roller-door tracks, under outdoor furniture, inside stacked pots, in the corner of a letterbox and through boat trailers and beach gear left standing in a carport. Dry, sheltered, undisturbed. Black house spiders build the messy funnels in window frames and under eaves. White-tails come inside hunting them.
The visit starts with a de-web, because residual sprayed over an existing web never reaches the spider underneath. Then eaves, architraves, sills, door frames, subfloor, shed and garage tracks. Activity climbs from October and peaks with males wandering in late summer, so the spring treatment is the one that counts.
